  12. I was hoping the announcement from AT about the new Amiga would
  13. shut up the whiners on this group, but I was obviously wrong.

  15. 1. Concerning the ec030 40Mhz: This is a fairly big
  16. step up from a 020 14Mhz. Even though it can't compete with the
  17. 486's or pentiums, you have to remember that it runs AmigaOS,
  18. not some bloated windows crap. Unless you're into cpu-intensive
  19. rendering, you don't need a 040/060. And even if you do, you can
  20. upgrade to it.

  22. 2. If you expected somthing like AGA+ with improved gfx and
  23. 16bit sound remember that AT can't work miracles. It's not so
  24. long since they took over the leftover mess from C=. If you
  25. don't like it, buy a gfx card.

  27. 3. You can't expect Amiga-O2 3.2 to be a big step up from 3.1
  28. Those of you who would like to have mem protection should read
  29. some of the posts explaing why this is so difficult to implement
  30. on the Amiga. Maybe M. Van Elst or Olaf Barthel could explain it
  31. once more.

  33. When reading the announcement from AT I was thrilled to see that
  34. the porting of AmigaOS to PPC is on schedule and that we
  35. actually can expect to see Power Amiga's available early 1997!!
  36. I wouldn't have dared to dream this possible.

  38. I think AT has done a respectable job in reviving the Amiga. My
  39. only gripe with AT is the poor developer support. They certainly
  40. could have made a better effort on making the NDK 3.1 available,
  41. at least uploaded the includes/autodcs to Aminet.

  43. I think the new Amiga is a step in the right direction with
  44. it's modularity and expandability. Also the fact that it can be
  45. turned into a tower is very positive and shows that AT is on
  46. the right path.
